Dinair Personal Pro Kits Review
Dinair is the best-known brand of airbrush makeup products, after all, they did invent airbrush makeup as we know it. Founded almost thirty years ago, Dinair remains a world leader in airbrush makeup. In this review, we’ll have a look at the range of Personal-Pro kits by Dinair. These are the cheapest of the Dinair range and start at just $229. Although they are intended primarily for home use, amateur photography and small salon work, they are used professionally by many people. This kit includes four different variations, at different prices:
(If you are looking for the most professional option, then see the Dinair Salon-Pro Kits)
This group of kits is perfect for people who are just starting airbrushing and are not sure if they want to invest in one of the Salon-Pro systems. As well as being used by many of my professional colleagues, this kit is also used by many of my clients at home, who use it daily as a substitute to normal makeup. At this reasonable price, it makes sense to do so.
This kit comes with the standard personal compressor which is both easy to move around and quiet. The compressor is light and compact enough to be held in your hand to allow easy applications to hard to reach areas when applying airtan. The application is consistent and the compressor is even powerful enough to be able to do whole body applications (although it takes a bit longer than more professional products). A useful dial on the compressor reduces the pressure sufficiently so that the user is able to airbrush the facial areas without the high pressure required for tanning applications.
The good thing about this range is that the kits can be upgraded at a later date. For example, if you buy the foundation plus kit and you decide to try air tanning later on then it is simply a matter of buying a tanning airbrush and a bottle of tanner, without needing to change the compressor. The low price also means that you can get the kit without feeling too guilty about it, but at the same time without sacrificing quality.
On top of all this, the Dinair personal pro kits come with a very good instructional DVD which goes through all of the basics, an eyebrow stencil kit and a handy travel case. It also comes with a range of glamor colors and bonus shades. The paramedical kit is the only kit that really differs in terms of colors. Designed for people with skin conditions, this kit contains excellent concealer that really hides any skin problems. When you go to the checkout you are able to choose which type of skin tone you want to order. This is good if you are just using this kit at home and don’t need the full range of colors as you will save money. Having said this, if you work in a salon and have a diverse customer base you will need a wider range of colors. Despite this, it is always possible to buy more colors individually at a later date.
The only negative aspect of this kit is the elevated price compared to many others on the market. At $200+ it can be hard to justify not going for a cheaper kit such as the one produced by ‘LeCosmetique’. Having said this, I have never met anyone who has regretted a purchase of a Dinair system and the extra money really does buy you quality. I have had my Dinair compressor for close to 15 years and it is still going strong! (UPDATE: The price has now been lowered to $229 for their basic starter kit)
In conclusion this is a great range of kits. All of the Dinair Personal-Pro Kits can be easily upgraded and customized to your liking. Although they are slightly more expensive than some other brands, they will last for many years and yield professional results from day one.

I first had a Temptu kit but I wasn’t happy with it so I decided to sell it and get one of these. I’m really glad I did because it works very well and now I never want to part with my little Dinair! I think that this kit is fantastic especially for anyone who is going into airbrush makeup for the first time. It will last you for many years and will not let you down. I work in a large TV and film studio and although we have a lot of very expensive airbrush systems there I still get out my mini Dinair system to get the job done. It is fast and effective and great to carry round. I really reccommend it!

Has anyone used the Dinair mini compressor kit with the Temptu SB makeup? I’m trying that now as the Dinair set too quickly for me and was a bit too dry. However, I’m wondering if the compressor is powerful enough to spray the heavier silicone foundation. It doesn’t seem to come out as evenly as other water based products – but maybe that’s just the way it it…?

Dinair=awesome! I bought a kit not too long ago and I am in love with it. It is very easy to use, great for beginers. The coverage is awesome, it works like an eraser! The makeup is so light and it doesn’t get oily and it lasts all day long and it blends wonderfully! I really recommand it ^^

I’m getting married and i want to look flawless on my wedding day…after doing my research on airbrushing i decided it was cheaper to purchase my own kit and do it my self…it has been the best investment I LOVE IT…and the staff at Dinair were simply wonderful, i had so many questions because i was scared to spend the money being on a wedding budget, they were very patient and helpful..

This is actually a reply to Carol’s comment –
Its not recommended to use with the Dinair system due to the gun needle not the compressor’s power. It’s a thicker silicone based makeup whereas the Dinair makeup is water based so the gun needle is smaller than in the Temptu system.
Hope this helped anyone considering trying it.

I have insanely oily skin and I am also blessed with fine lines. I have tried every foundation on the market and nothing stays on all day without globs of makeup and oil appearing within a few hours. I thought Dinair might solve my problem. The glamour looked great, but the oil on my nose broke through after a few hours. The paramedical stays on my nose for 4 hours and the rest of my face all day, which is a huge improvement over anything I’ve tried. I do still use my amazing cosmetics concealer for my dark circles though.
Because it didn’t solve my oil problem and was expensive, I intended to send my airbrush back. I went back to my original makeup (Chanel Matte Lumiere) for one day and it felt awful! I had to take it off and use my dinair. It gives great coverage and it really feels like you aren’t wearing anything. To top it all off, the customer service at Dinair is fantastic. Really, it’s probably one of the best customer service departments I have ever done business with. They will answer all of your questions and work with you to make sure you are happy. I would recommend the product and the company to anyone. I am keeping mine and will never go back to traditional foundation.
I also tried Temptu at Sephora and it was thick, greasy, and awful. I broke out badly the next day. Dinair is far superior.

I just got the Dinair for Christmas and I think it is amazing! My face looks flawless and I didn’t have to use that much foundation to make it that way. Also, the makeup does not easily rub off! LOVE IT

The dinair airbrush kit either shoots out to much product or none at all. Maybe good on a cadaver but if your human and plan on moving your face once it dries no matter how lite u put it on it’s going to crack. If you have fine lines arround your eyes or anywhere it won’t cover them you will need to rub it in but will just smudge the makeup and if you don’t rub it in then it will make the line look worse im 25 I feel sorry for someone in their 30s who really has lines to use it. They website charged me for two kits and I’m still trying to get my money back over a month later and from what I heard I’m not the first person this has happend to. If you are set in your ways and are one of those people who like to learn from your mistakes at least order using a live person that might up your chances of not getting charged $280.00 extra. Although the experience I’ve had with their live help number its clear that this is a very bad run business. If their product was at least good then it would kind of make it worth it but my whole experience has been so bad that im actually one of those people leaving a review.

I have not recieved my Dinair system yet but do look forward to it.However already I ran into customer service issues. My Dinair should of been here tommorrow but they didnt have my color compressor instock. They could of called to tell me but they didnt ups told me they had the lable but no merchandise and to call them.I did and now I will be waiting a few more additional days.No one called or emailed me so now I will have makeup I actually ordered a day after that order but no airbrush until later.Personally I think they could of called to let me know and I would of chosen an instock color.I really hope I like the machine I am going into business for myself but they definately need to improve om customer relations and they hung up on me when I had a question going to another department.

I do love Dinair, I have had it for over a yr now, but I am on my 3rd Airbrish itself. Not the compressor. The one that came with my kit in the beginning never worked right to begin with but I didn’t know until it officially wasn’t spraying anything and I purchased another one. A world of a difference, so I have this one since last april and now this one isn’t working correctly, for someone like me who cleans it everytime i am done with it and follows the videos to a T I should have no problems! There must be a better way than to keep buying them. They offered for me to mail it in and fix it, so I am going to try that one on the 2 that broke or have something wrong with them. But I did buy another one because I need to use the makeup everyday having rosacea. So really i am just un happy with that, but not the makeup or the system. I really should be offered a free one at this point. Plus they never offer any coupons or discounts for anything! And I buy so much from them! They should work on that!

This is truly terrific product. I have extremely oily/acne prone skin and have used literally hundreds of expensive types of make up. It also lasts so long! I do it at 6:30 in the morning before work and it still looks great at night before I go out. I hate to admit it but I have slept in it (gross I know) and my skin still doesn’t break out and the make up was still on looking perfect! The only downside is that you have to clean it/wet dock it every time after use. The needle inside the system is really sensitive too so just don’t drop it!

I purchased the Dinair after researching many airbrush systems. Sephora airbrushed my makeup for my son’s wedding in January 2011 and it was flawless. I have very dry skin and the Temptu stood up through the wedding, reception and tears. That is the one I was going to buy, but reviews weren’t that great, so I decided on the Dinair. It’ okay. I’m new to airbrushing, so maybe they all are time consuming. But I have to plan on at least 20 minutes to do just my foundation. Clean, spray, adjust, spray, clean. And mine does not last all day, but could be the moisturizer I’m using. Any suggestions on moisturizer or primer? I use their “Perfect Skin”, but that doesn’t help it stay on and if I get too much, then it balls up and rubs off. Now the trigger on the spray gun came completely out and I don’t know what to do. When it works, it’s fabulous. But it sprays correctly and evenly maybe one time out of 10. Still trying to make it work, but not sure I’d recommend it. Again, it’s the only one I’ve tried so they may all be this way. Let me know your thoughts and thanks for any suggestions.

This was the first ever kit that I had and it is really good. It has everything you need to teach yourself about airbrush makeup and it is actually surprisingly powerful too
